We are now offering puppy training which would include housebreaking, crate training and beginner obedience training. We realize that while exciting, bringing a new puppy into your home can be a time-consuming and a frustrating event. You want to enjoy your new puppy, but you worried about all that comes with getting a new puppy, including the significant changes of him being away from his mother and litter. Crate training and house training, chewing, jumping on your children, and the puppy nipping, are all totally normal new puppy issues and valid new puppy owner fears.
Rest assured, we can now offer you a solution with our Puppy Headstart Programs. We know that the first weeks, and months of your puppy's life are critical for his happy and healthy development, as well as a lifetime of harmony in your home.
Our Puppy Headstart Program is a unique training program that was created to help new puppies make the transition from their mother and litter-mates to their new family environment. The Puppy Headstart Training Academy is designed to allow you the best of both worlds. You can get a new puppy without all of those new puppy issues.
Four options are available:
2 Week Training Package - $500
- The crate training, meaning in most cases your puppy can hold potty and remain quiet overnight and for a few hours during the day.
- Problems such as jumping up, mouthing (puppy nipping), chewing, etc. will be worked on and usually pretty well under control at the end of the two weeks.
- Your puppy will be familiar with the taking and following treats and wearing a collar and leash.
- Your puppy will be introduced to and be comfortable with the training obedience commands of knowing his name, sit, down, leave it, stay, come, loose leash walking, touch, and ringing the bell. ( This aspect of the training is not complete but is made much easier due to the familiarity with the basic training concepts.)
- Your puppy will be introduced to basic grooming and such as brushing, ear cleaning, nail trimming, and teeth brushing.
- Your puppy will receive socialization throughout the day with children and other household pets.
This package is best suited for those who want a headstart on training but would like to do most of the training themselves, or with help from a trainer in their area. This package is ideal for those who would like to avoid the first very messy and noisy days of crate and potty training. This program is not for anyone who wants a completely trained puppy. This is an introductory program only.
Puppies that have attended for two weeks are being introduced to the potty training process and are just beginning to understand basic manners and what is expected of them. They will continue to require a great deal of attention with potty training in your home, as well as reinforcement of all that we have been working on with them.
This program is an excellent beginning for potty training, obedience and manners, and can be easily continued by those that have prior experience in puppy training.
With the 2-week program you will receive a crate, collar, and leash along with support on continuing the following training that has been done.
4 Week Training Package - $1000
- crate training
- housetraining
- introduction and socialization with other dogs and children
- leash walking
- beginner obedience training
- basic commands such as sit, down, leave it, shake a paw, wait
- exposure to traveling in the car
- extra vaccinations
For those individuals that work outside of the house all day or busy families, especially with young children, this training program is the minimum recommendation. Puppies that have been through four weeks of training are calmer and have learned a great deal more patience. All of the items listed in the two week course have been well learned including some additional higher level skills. More socialization opportunities are provided to create a well rounded experience for your puppy such as swimming lessons and short outings around town. The four week stay is our most popular training package and works well for the majority of families that want a good solid start to their puppy’s training.
6 Week Training Package - $1500
- crate training
Additional housetraining, to include ringing a bell.
- continued introduction to other dogs and children, including visits to public parks, public events
- leash walking integrating commands - heel, sit, stand, stay
- continued obedience and manners
- firming up basic commands
- further exposure to traveling in the car
- final puppy and rabies vaccinations
This training program is optimum for families desiring a more polished training experience. After puppies have completed this program they will arrive home on “cruise control” knowing all skills wonderfully. Our customers have found their puppies to be very easy to manage and continuance of skills learned is effortless enabling the pups to fit into a family with ease.
Twelve Week Stays:
The twelve week extended stay is provided for those individuals who don’t want to deal with early puppyhood issues and simply want a well trained older puppy to blend into their family seamlessly. Puppies at this age are past the nipping phase and the razor sharp baby teeth are gone, the adult teeth are in. All vaccines including rabies will be completed.
All families will receive weekly updates informing them of what their puppy has been learning, also included are pictures and/or video of your puppy.
During the last week of your puppy’s training session, we will send you an Instruction Sheet detailing all we have been working on with your puppy as well as a listing of all commands. A step by step daily schedule will also be provided to guide you through the day with your new family member and of course we are always available to assist you with any questions as they arise long after your puppy comes home. If you're interested in any of the training packages offered let us know prior to your puppy being 8 weeks of age. If you are purchasing an older puppy we can still accommodate and adjust a training program according to your needs.
We will only train 2 puppies at one time, so be sure to reserve in advance.
